Heather has been an equestrian since she was 8 years
old. Having studied Dressage, Saddleseat, Stadium Jumping,
Cross-Country Jumping and Western Riding. She has trained
Arabians, Appaloosas, Tennessee Walkers and Quarter Horses.
In 1990, Heather met her soulmate, Johnny McKeehan and
after one trailride on a Tennessee Walker, the two became hooked.
Shortly thereafter, Heather's lifetime dream came true when the two
began showing this beautiful breed.
Very early on it became clear that this union was a
natural. Heather's first champion was her 5 time undefeated state
champion walker Dominique Josephine and Johnny's was his 7 time state champion, Rock-a-Billy-Babe.
In October of 1996, Johnny came home with an early
Christmas present for Heather, namely "Wee
Willie" - a 6 month old mini
paint. While "Willie" doesn't show, he will always have a home at
Spotted Haven as the farm mascot.
In November 1996, Heather & Johnny became
one in a fairytale horseback
wedding as crowds lined the streets to watch
as they rode on horseback along the scenic downtown
St. Petersburg waterfront.
In 1999, the couple moved to Hudson,
Florida and created their own little heaven - naming it
Spotted Haven Walking Horse Farm.
Since that time, Heather & Johnny have had many
equestrian experiences and events but none more heartbreaking than the
loss of Rock-a-Billy-Babe's foal - Idol's
Dream Catcher. We had the honor
or knowing this spirited little stallion from Nov. 25th 1999 to Sept. 16, 2001 and will always remember him with love. We
couldn't create a website about our champions without a page dedicated
to the little champion that never was so you will find a memorial page
to "Dreamcatcher" here.
Life has it's way of tempering the bad with the good
however and this young couple were rewarded for believing in the
impossible when they guided Rembrandt.com into winning the 2002
World Grand Championship Kegshod National Spotted Horse. Read Rembrandt's incredible story here.
